My Hydriam turned bright yellow/orange/green! Is there a way to fix this?

It is actually completely normal for the TPU in your Hydriam to become discolored, even after just 24 hours.  Our TPU is soft, lightweight, porous and BPA-free. We never use BPA (part of the polymer that keeps plastics completely clear - but can also cause cancer) in our products.  Thus, every BPA-free plastic is sensitive to discoloring: the combination of UV exposure plus high tannins and mineral content in water sources can lead to discoloration. This  does not affect your Vesica's function, safety or performance.

Can I mix drink powders in my Quick Hydration Kit?

Yes, although make sure you clean well before storing. Note that as TPU is a porous and BPA free material, it will take on the color of any products with dyes you put inside of it.

Can I put boiling water, coffee, tea in my Hydriam?

No, the Hydriam can only tolerate temperatures up to 120°F (49°C).

Can I attach my filter and drink straight from my Hydriam?

Yup! It’s a great option for on-the-go water filtration for fastpackers and trail runners.

How do I clean my Quick Hydration Kit?

For the Hydriam, Give it a quick wash with mild, biodegradable soap and warm water, using a scrub brush on the inside if needed, and let hang (air) dry completely between uses. It's best to do this regularly between hiking seasons and long trips.

For the QuickStraw, you'll want to remove the bite valve and clean it with mild soap. To clean the inside of the tube, you can run soapy water through it and then a clean water rinse when done. For a deeper clean, you'll want to remove the adapters and use a tube brush. You may need to use a form of heat to remove and reattach the adapters on the tube.

Is my Quick Hydration Kit dishwasher-safe?

No, your Hydriam should not go in the dishwasher. The high temperatures in a dishwasher may compromise or degrade the Hydriam's radio-frequency (RF) bonded welds, and can cause leaks.

However, the QuickStraw and QuickCap are dishwasher safe.

My Hydriam gives my water a plastic taste. Is it faulty? Can I get rid of the taste/smell?

This is normal, albeit not tasty. To remove the added flavor, soak it in warm water with two denture tabs overnight, empty and wash thoroughly with mild soap, then let air dry.

Can you freeze the Quick Hydration Kit
The Hydriam has an optimal operational temperature down to 20°F (-6°C). It can be frozen for sanitizing purposes.

The QuickStraw can also be frozen, and is a recommended method of storage to prevent any mold from forming, especially in humid climates.

How do I store my Quick Hydration Kit?

Between trips and seasons, make sure your Hydriam is stored clean, dry, and out of sunlight. We recommend storing your Hydriam with the cap off. The QuickStraw is recommended to be stored in the freezer in between trips
